Our Opinion Does Not Matter at University?

"Your opinions don't matter at this level." "You don't have a say." Huge red flag! Even my mother was shocked when she uttered those words. In all, I'm not bothered by what people have to say; but when she spok e those words. My motivation sank faster than the titanic on April 15th, 1912. Imagine having to sit in an introductory course,  Initially thinking it would be a fun learning experience. Then  basically end up having to teach yourself a topic you've never come across before. 'RAT-A-TAT-A-TAT-A-TATAT, ' a bullet put straight into the thought. As an alternative, think of it as your favorite show getting canceled before actually finding out how it's supposed to end. Upsetting? Some lecturers believe that because "This is  University," it is supposed to be overbearingly stressful. However, that shouldn't be the case. Additionally, crushing someone's self-esteem is no way to increase the passing rate in a class. ...

My Perspective: Visiting Rites by Susan Musgrave

The author writes about the heartbreaking, not so lovely experience of having her husband locked behind bars. Musgrave describes the deceitfulness of the outside scenery with its "fairy tale castle-hotel" appearance and says one should take a closer look because "it's a dungeon." Moreover, she speaks about the facility being a mental hospital. Her feelings of committing herself for shock therapy; and how she wished she was with her husband "lying by him." I was shocked when the author brought the memory of her being married in the same "sensory - deprivation chamber," waiting to see her husband that later declined visitation. She explained it as "drug withdrawal" to no surprise. However, her holding the toilet paper until it was "soon the size of a spitball" made her feelings of betrayal show more. When she said that " prison was not an easy place to escape, even if they release you," it holds some truth....

My Perspective: Neat People vs. Sloppy People by Suzanne Britt

In the beginning, I didn't expect  the author would mention that "Neat people are lazier and meaner than sloppy people." It is widely stipulated that sloppy people are the lazy ones. That is precisely what I grew up hearing. Yes, I am kind of sloppy sometimes. To put it nicely, you could say I'm somewhat in between being sloppy and neat. The author mentioned that a sloppy individual "Will file everything on the surface of their desks including the cash receipts" and I could relate. I don't throw out my receipts until the ink is completely gone. In honesty, a lot of thought goes into throwing something out because I "can't bear to part with" particular items (my sketchbooks) .   The author was quite harsh when she mentioned neat people as "bums and clods at heart." Additionally, I can't agree that "Everything is a dust catcher to them" as I believe a neat person would clean up the mess. Moreover, I don...

My Perspective: Mandatory Vaccination

Hmm, ' Mandatory Vaccinations.' Although I understand that government and health officials worldwide are trying to look out for civilians, making vaccinations mandatory is not the way to go. Well, that's my opinion on this whole kerfuffle. Though vaccines have been around years now, they were voluntary . So why should they be mandatory now? Is the coronavirus that different from influenza(Spanish flu)? How about our still current HIV/AIDS global epidemic? Currently,  individuals can still die from the flu and HIV.  Some individuals may think mandatory vaccination is necessary. However, others may think it is a straight-up insult to human rights, which I believe. A good question to ask yourself is. Why shouldn't individuals be skeptical about taking a vaccine when the government is bribing persons to take it? A vaccine that they once said you had the choice of taking. In the end, individuals should be able to make decisions without coercion. Getting into something with...
